Chris came to NYC from Minneapolis in 1988 and attended the Institute of Audio Research. He then went on to Quad Studios. At Quad, he learned the basics of recording and mixing, working on album projects with Marc Cohn, David Wilcox, Martyn Joseph, and Patty Larkin. This gave him a foundation to build upon when he left Quad for Sony Music Studios in 1993.
At Sony Studios, he worked with a large variety of clients, including DMX, The Fugees & Wyclef Jean, Ruff Ryders, Swizz Beats, Vivian Green & Shakira. He won 2 Grammy awards while at Sony, one for Lauryn Hill's "Miseducation" and one for Santana's "Supernatural".
In 2004, he went freelance, leaving Sony Music Studios, doing sessions at The Hit Factory, Sound on Sound, Chung King, and Avatar, as well as working with Henry Hirsch and Lenny Kravitz at The Edison and Waterfront Studios in Hudson, NY.
After moving his family to northern NJ, he setup his home studio while working at Waterfront. In 2016, he became an Adjunct Instructor at IAR, teaching students about the technology of mixing and Pro Tools. He stayed on as an instructor until IAR closed. Chris continues his work at his home studio while doing live sound for Crazy Swedes in the New York area.
